Research Paper

Just a reminder to all of my students that the research paper due date has been pushed back one week since I will not be there. Check the Daily Assignments on the right to see the reminder of the due date. We will discuss the proper formatting of the paper when I return. I have heard that some students are already working on their event and I want to encourage others to do the same. If you have any questions I will leave this thread open for you to ask questions while I am away.

2nd Annual Physics OOOlympics!

We are starting our preparation for the final project this year for the 8th Grade, which is the Physics Olympics. This is a wonderful event just for science class that incorporates team work, the scientific method, engineering and critical thinking to solve real world problems in simple classroom events. This is an exciting time, but does require lots of creativity and work. Students have found the physics olympics to be challenging yet fun to accomplish. All rules and requirements for the project are posted to the right as a reference. Each period will compete against each other. All event rules have to be followed precisely, in the event a rule is broken the group event will be disqualified (disqualification does not effect the grade of the project but will affect the points their class will earn towards the competition). Grades will be given based on adequate completion of a research paper, following the scientific method through note-taking, and a presentation of their experiment through power point. Enjoy!

CHEMISTRY!!!

Hello all, I just wanted to let you know that the next chapter begins a wonderful in depth look at the world of atoms, molecules, and ions. It is a big stretch until Christmas break, but also tons of fun! We will look at what makes up our world at the smallest level we can obeserve. At the beginning of this chapter, we will discuss a project that allow you to get closer to an element on the periodic table. There will also be several demonstrations in class that I always look forward to doing along with several laboratories. Be ready to study hard and have fun!!!
